  1. People tend to rely on their own experiences when judging whether or not the environment is becoming better or worse. Conservation scientists refer to this as the “shifting baseline,” meaning that we don’t perceive long term degradation and tend to think that a long degraded environment is normal. In this context, think about fisheries and show how you might demonstrate whether or not fisheries are declining.
  2. Do you think that fish farming (aquaculture) is a reasonable answer to overexploitation of ocean wild fish stock? What risks are involved?
  3. How do you think the concept of maximum sustained yield should be modified in light of future climate change?
